The beauty of practicing yoga for over 10 years is the instinctual wisdom and realizations that occur spontaneously. The path of yoga is a living path, not just something we "do". And the beauty that I am currently realizing is that those who seek yoga are seeking more love.
When first stepping on to this path, flexibility and "tricks" are often misconstrued as one's level of "goodness". Of course, our body's physical ability can serve as a vehicle toward realizations, but it does not determine how far we have advanced on the yogic path. I have been witness to the student who can fold their body in half rest there for half a day while painting their nails and creating their grocery list. I have also been witness the student who does not have that same physical depth, but who is completely in their body and witness to their experience. It is this student, who in the end, has gone much deeper in terms of what yoga teaches us.
Yoga has taught me so much about being present and living in a complete state of awareness and being. The result has contributed to living in a way that is much more alive and more sensitive more loving and more enthusiastic. My life has been transforming at a rate quicker than any other time in my life. How? I've stopped believing everything, begun listening to everything and have starting making very close observations.
Some time ago, someone told me that every action that we take is motivated by either love or fear. I realize that anger, resentment, jealousy, insecurity... they are all forms of fear. And love is...well... love. And love shows up in so many forms. There is more than one love. I love to love. And I'm wondering.. is it possible to see life completely as love, no exceptions - ever?
I am in no way suggesting that this is easy. It is a practice, a discipline. But waking up each day with a clear understanding of what can and cannot change in our lives, cultivates more love and authenticity. When we take this action, when we choose love, it becomes easy to wrap our hearts around those who we share our lives with. When we understand through loves filter, we see truth. And when we are able to accept and feel love on this kind of cellular level, we also discover freedom. And when freedom is known, we have more love to offer the world.
This is my experience.
