I recently attended an all women’s yoga retreat at Kripalu, facilitated by Gurmukh and Shiva Rea. These women are intensely inspirational; I highly suggest taking a workshop with them. I don’t know of any other purification process more potent than a yoga immersion. When you remove yourself from external drama and enter into a mystic space absolute clarity, authentic inner peace, and genuine love consume your entire being.
Shiva’s discussions were about the feminine, female sensuality, sexuality and our creative, energetic force ~ it was incredibly empowering. My entire being was over-flowing with bliss; it was exactly what I needed in my life right now. I have taken soooo many workshops with Shiva over the last 2 and half years. The most valuable realization I have received through studying with her is that our hearts capacity to love is immense. Love’s pulse reaches far beyond our body ~ so far, that we will never know all the people who will be touched by our love.
Doing kundalini yoga with Gurmukh was really challenging. The experiences I had with her on the mat are the most difficult moments I have ever had in a retreat. However, working that hard is liberating. I was so high, purely from my breath. Gurmukh stressed working hard and being of service to others. That's how we get what we want. We can try and try to figure things out on our own…you know people like this, right??? Forever planning.... But when we take action - THAT'S when we get our answers. And when we work hard, when we are living in service for one another, happiness prevails.
You just need to start helping people.
Gurmukh said the following:
“We are the pioneers of this age.
Prepare yourself.
Drop your baggage. Aren’t you BORED with your delimmas? Your story isn’t that original.
What are you DOING?!?
Do you love your work?
Is your work progressing the world spiritually?
Your work HAS to contribute to humanity, it has to uplift people.
If it doesn’t, it isn’t working because it doesn’t serve your soul.”
I see many common threads that weave people into a yoga practice. One of which is they are seekers, or as Gurmukh calls them “pioneers”. They are looking for something more and it is this: themselves. YOU are the ONE you have been waiting for! Petition to the universe for help with the talents you have been given. Ask for guidance in finding the best place to serve. And be committed to a cause. Don’t spread yourself, your time, your energy, your money randomly…be very specific about where you choose to serve. When you do your dharma (your souls purpose) happiness falls into place. Know your truth and live it.
So my friends, gather together in the name of love, share the talents that you have been given to serve each other in the best way possible. Commitment to serve = love = grace = happiness
