standing on hands

Anusara Immersion weekend 1: second day, after about 30 minutes of practice, we are instructed to go to the wall and do handstand.  i am nearly in tears.  the complete fear dialogue streams through my head.  the class is full, i hesitated.  no wall space.  naime approaches me, "let's do this!" he says.  i explain i don't "do" handstand.  "no problem" he says warm heartedly.  he promised not to let me go and was really firm in this direction for me to keep my arms straight.    about 15 seconds later, i'm in handstand, center floor.  naime made a great wall :)

Anusara Immersion weekend 2: handstand at the wall with another student's assistance.  ok, i think i'm beginning to understand this one. and had a fleeting moment of thinking, is this actually easier than headstand?

Anusara Immersion weekend 3: friday night - up the wall, with assistance, just a little lift of the leg, no "hip help".  saturday - again, little bit of help, starting to feel a little grace moving me :)  sunday - i did it! ZERO help. twice! and for a about 3 seconds i had both feet off the wall. i was so excited!  later attempts, i failed to get up alone.  i will get up again.  and yes, being up there,   is a mores blissful experience than headstand, for me.

Shani, I too have been loving handstand and think that it is possibly slightly easier than headstand. Almost all of my classes have it included at some point and I feel so empowered by the pose. Although, I have not quite gotten up there on my own, but it will happen any day. Congrats to you!
